A common problem lactating moms encounter is dry, swollen, and cracked nipples from poor latches or just having sensitive skin. The nipples may become very tender and bleed. This isn’t something to ignore since it will likely only progressively get worse and possibly cause an infection.
The solution many nursing moms turn to is nipple cream. It can be bought over-the-counter at most any pharmacy for around $10-$15 per tube. Sounds rather inexpensive until you consider you may go through a tube or two of the stuff each week, adding $40-$60 to your monthly expenses.
