Does My Child Have Influenza?
It can be very difficult to tell whether your child has influenza or another type of illness. Everyone experiences influenza in a slightly different way. However, there are a few ways to tell influenza from other types of illness such as the common cold:
- High fever
- Systemic symptoms such as muscle aches that affect every part of your body
- Combination of respiratory and digestive symptoms
- Symptoms that last more than a week
These are all good reasons to believe you have influenza rather than a common cold. In general, a cold will only involve symptoms above the neck while influenza is so much more.
