Con #3: Not Required To Be Licensed
Home daycare centres are not required to be licensed. Licensing can give the daycare provider a lot of support. Support can be as small as ideas for activities to do with the children, or as large as support with behaviour or developmental challenges. Home daycare centres that are not licensed also don’t have the ministry come and check in on them to ensure their home is safe and they are running a developmentally appropriate program. (Note: there are some really awesome non-licensed home daycares. This is just information for you to consider).
