Con #1: No Back Up Caregivers
Most home daycare providers do not have someone to cover them when they get ill, when their children get ill or when they go on vacation. This can be especially difficult when you do not have close friends or family close by to take care of your child while you go to work. You may have to use your holidays and/ or sick days to stay home and take care of your child. Also, day care providers have a really tough job. It is mentally, emotionally and physically exhausting. Having more staff members around to cover breaks, help out if things get hectic or to bounce ideas off of can be very helpful to reduce the amount of burn out. This is a luxury home daycare providers do not have.
