Pro #5: Continuity and Security
Most daycare centres have different rooms and different teachers for each different age group. This means that when children move from the infant room to the toddler room and then the preschool room, children have to move to a different room with different routines and different teachers. In a home day care, children will spend their entire time with the same caregiver. This helps children feel secure and gain a strong relationship with their caregiver. Children are able to get comfortable in the home with (mostly) the same children, the same caregiver and the same rules/ expectations. This can be very important for children who are slow to warm up or have a hard time adjusting to new situations.
