Pro #4: Mixed Age Groups: More Familial
Due to ratios and program goals, day care centres group children of the same age together. While this is great for ensuring age appropriate activities and helps your children build relationships with children their own age, having a group of mixed ages has a lot of benefits as well for both the older and younger children. Older children have the opportunity to learn empathy and take on small roles of responsibilities helping the younger children. The younger children have an opportunity to learn from the older children. Also, having mixed age groups closely mirrors a family environment and helps children become more comfortable with children of all ages.
