Con #2: Lack of Continuity

While most centres have a variety of age ranges (either infant-preschool, or toddler-preschool), most centres do not have the same teachers following the children throughout their stay at the daycare. If you have a child who is slow to warm up or doesn’t do well with change, this can be difficult; new room, new teachers, some new friends. Also, the thought of having supply staff can be quite relieving if parents don’t have back up care, however, having a supply staff that the children don’t know very well can be hard for some children. While it is good for children to learn to adjust and get used to new faces, this can be quite difficult for a child with high stranger anxiety or has been already having a tough time entering a child care setting.
