Pro #4: Licensed and Regulated
All centres need to be given a license from the Ministry of Education (in Ontario). They review policies and procedures and ensure all staff members are up to date on their vaccinations, CPR certification and back ground checks. In order for childcare centres to receive grants and fee subsidy they have to complete operating criteria. The centres are observed and rated on different areas of operation, for example: behaviour guidance, health and safety, knowledge of policies and procedures, etc. Daycare centres have many supports in place to ensure quality care. Also, there is a supervisor of the centres that are almost always on site. They oversee the staff, make sure policies and procedures are being followed and make sure the parents, staff and children are happy and cared for.
