Home Remedies and Relief
It is crucial to get to a doctor quickly for treatment of this disease so it does not become more serious and damage vision. However, there are a few home remedies that you can use to stay more comfortable until it is time for your appointment.
Cold or warm compresses can relieve the irritation and pain temporarily. Many people find that warm compresses work better for infectious (bacterial or viral) illness while other types respond more to cold compresses. You can try both to see which is right for you. Simply wet a clean cloth, bring it to the right temperature, and place it on your closed eyes. Wash your hands well and use a fresh washcloth for each affected eye, to avoid spreading infection.
