4) Gender reveals
This is one of the most modern trends that doesn’t seem to be leaving us. It seems like having a baby shower isn’t the only announcement that is expected for couples anymore. Now, the couple feels the need to celebrate with yet another spectacle to let everyone know if they are having a boy or a girl. Not only is the reveal a “must” but then you’ll need to follow up with posting the video on social media and tagging everyone that you want to know. Considering the steps our culture has made over the past few years regarding gender, it seems a little odd that this trend still sits so high for expecting parents. Most parenting tactics these days include giving the child the choice to decide what the child wants to be called as in he or she. And, not only does this seem outdated, it could be outright dangerous. There have been several stunts that have gone wrong with the gender reveals that have caused some serious damage such as a large wildfire. One fire produced damage in the 8 million dollar range! Here are some reasons not to have a gender reveal:
- You may be offending your own child later in life by choosing their pronoun for them.
- It’s a waste of money. A lot of people go big with these reveals and there just isn’t any reason to.
- It’s simply pure pressure. You’re only having a gender reveal because someone else made you feel the need to do it.
- It can be dangerous. Depending on the stunt you choose, you could end up causing some major damage, be fined, or even serve jail time.
