Cards

Challenge the kids mind with a round or two of card games. There are so many to choose from but some traditional and popular ones for kids between the ages of 3-7 are Memory, Old Maid, War, Slapjack, Pig, and I Doubt It. Old Maid, of course, can create some suspense. All you need is a standard 52-card pack of playing cards. First, remove one of the 4 queen cards from the pack to create an odd number. Shuffle and then share the cards one at a time to each player until all the cards are dealt. Players must then pair off all their cards and keep only single cards. Keeping their hand of cards facing them, each player must take turns pulling a card from the person to their right. If a player pulls a matching card, they must pair it off and remove the pair from their hand. Repeat this pattern until only the odd queen card remains in a player’s hand. That person is the Old Maid!
