Indoor hopscotch

A game of hopscotch doesn’t have to be confined to the schoolyard. It can definitely be played indoors and be as much fun. Use masking tape or chalk to create the hopscotch pattern on the floor. You’ll need to make 9 connecting squares and a half circle base. Draw or make the half-circle base at the top and label it “10.” Then work downwards creating a square beneath the half-circle, followed by a rectangle which you will divide into two to get 2 squares. Make another square followed by a rectangle divided into 2 additional squares. Finally, add 3 squares below. Number the first square at the top “9” and work backward until the last square at the bottom is numbered “1.” The first player will stand behind square “1” and toss a marker (coin or button) into square “1” then hop over square “1” until he or she gets to the home base number “10.” The rule is to hop on one foot in single squares and rest two feet on doubles squares. The player must hop back to base “1” and pick up the marker on the way back. The next player gets his turn if the marker or foot of the current player touches a line or the player loses balance and falls. The player that gets the marker all the way up to base 9 wins.
